Local Activities & Outings
In the immediate vicinity you will find the Alaska State Fairgrounds, Palmer Golf Course, Mat Su Miner's Baseball, and Arkose Brewery. In this land of giant vegetables, the mountain views are gigantic, too. Enjoy them by walking or bicycling. Our lakes are close at hand and annually stocked with rainbow trout. Palmer has a tantalizing variety of places to eat out. It's worth spending a day just exploring Historic Downtown Palmer or enjoying the Palmer Museum. Or, you may wish to spend the day at Independence Mine at Hatcher Pass only 17 miles from Palmer. For the athletically inclined, there are innumerable trails to hike. Wildflowers and wildlife abound. Or drive the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway. The views are awe-inspiring. This, of course, is only a sampling of activities. Learn more from the Mat Su Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
